Located in a spectacular wilderness setting among a backdrop of huge pines and majestic mountains lies this often deserted, high-elevation lake. Beautiful views, and pleasant weather draw paddlers to the lake. A more perfect paddling destination could scarcely be imagined. It is one of my personal favorite lakes to paddle.

After a delightful, leisurely paddle, enjoy a hike on the numerous trails in the area or you can also try your hand at fishing. Caples Lake has a good fishing action, starting around the month of June when the snowpack melts, up until about mid-October.It is a premier kayak fishing and is guaranteed to provide you with an abundance of trout, bigger than you could ever imagine. You could spend the entire day here, hooking one after the other. This superb kayak angling destination provides fishermen with a good quantity of rainbow, brown, brook, and cutthroat trout. There are a few mackinaws as well. Fly-fishing is often successful, too.
