Don Pedro Lake

Kayaking Don Pedro Lake

Don Pedro Lake Kayak, Canoe, SUP & Kayak Fishing

Information

Don Pedro Lake, is one of California's busiest lakes. Kayaking is more enjoyable earlier in the morning due to the gusty wind conditions common in this area, and the amount of bKayak Fishing Don Pedro lakeoat traffic. This massive lake located in the Sierra Nevada foothills has three boat launch locations. Two launches are located on the southern side of the lake, one at Fleming Meadows and the other at Blue Oaks. A third launch is located on the northeastern side of the lake, at Moccasin Point.

Kayak fishing provides excellent opportunities to catch trout, salmon, black bass, catfish and bluegill. You might even pull in a few smallmouth or spotted bass. Bass fishing is open all year. The San Joaquin Fish Hatchery plants the lake with 25,000 to 30,000 pounds of brook trout, while Moccasin Creek Fish Hatchery stocked 40,000 pounds of rainbow trout. The DFG also planted 20,000 subcatchable brown trout and 60,000 fingerling rainbows in the lake in the fall.
