Lake Murray is located within the boundary
of Mission Trails Regional Park, which lies
between the city of San Diego and the
neighboring communities of La Mesa and
Santee. It is a popular year round
destination for outdoor family fun. Lake
Murray is a paddling paradise for kids and
adults alike. There is no shortage of
recreational opportunities to enjoy. You can
easily spend an entire day here.
It is the perfect destination for anyone who
enjoys soaking up breathtaking views,
kayaking, hiking, fishing, and other outdoor
activities. There is also a nice picnic area
with barbecues and picnic tables located
around the lake.
Fishing is allowed year round from sunrise
to sunset. Lake Murray has Florida-strain
largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish,
black crappie and trout stocked from
November through May.
The minimum size limit for bass is 12
inches. Fish limits are five bass, five
trout, five catfish and 25 crappie and
bluegill in aggregate, with no limit on
other species. Fishing permits are available
at the concession and ranger pay stations.
You must have a California State Fishing
license if
you are 16 years of age or older.
