Tenaya Lake is located in a region of astonishing beauty, at 8,150’ elevation in Yosemite National Park, between Yosemite Valley and Toulumne Meadows on Tioga Pass Road, which closes in the wintertime. The paddling season is typically in the months of June to October, depending on when the snow melts.

Tioga Pass Road passes along the lake's northern edge so the lake is hard to miss. With limited parking on both sides of the lake and primitive restroom facilities, the crowd factor is usually not as much of a problem as you might experience at other lakes within Yosemite National Park during the summer months.

Tenaya Lake is about 15 miles east of the Yosemite National Park east entrance, which receives an incredible 3.5 million visitors every year. Yosemite is known for its towering Giant Sequoias, spectacular granite cliffs, and waterfalls.

The night and early morning air temperature can be quite nippy, even in the middle of summer. Paddling around the lake is relatively easy during the morning and evening, but the winds tend to kick up in the early afternoon. Power boats are not allowed, which makes it a superb paddling destination to chill out and unwind away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
