Spaulding Lake is one example of the amazing paddling adventures you can find in Lake Spaulding Kayaking and Canoeing California. Late spring and summer are the best times to paddle here. On warm days, the lake's refreshing waters will be your siren song, luring you to dangle your toes in, take a swim, or get out onto the lake for some aquatic fun. Late Summer days are perfected by pleasant air temperatures and warmer waters, lakeside picnics, and hours of doing whatever strikes your fancy. An outing here will open your eyes to natural wonders both new and old, but a paddling excursion at Spaulding Lake will never disappoint

The summer air temperatures can vary greatly from the day to the night, often up to 40 degrees. The daytime high air temperatures are in the 80s and 90s from June to September and in the 60s and 70s in the late spring and early fall.

In the early spring the water temperature is cold, with typical strong, gusty winds in the afternoon. The lake’s icy-cold water temperature deters windsurfing, jet and waterskiing. The night and early morning air temperature is quite nippy, even in the middle of summer.

Spaulding Lake Campground in California is just steps from the lake, located in a forested setting where you can hand carry your kayak a short distance and launch. The natural splendor at this primitive campground is superb, but getting to it could be slightly challenging for vehicles pulling trailers, and RV’s. However, the outdoor recreational opportunities available at Spaulding Lake are more than enough to make up for this slight inconvenience.

Spaulding Lake Campground provides only basic amenities. 25 sites are available for tents (RVs are only allowed in overflow area by boat launch). There are vault toilets and drinking water. The forested setting is marvelous and the fresh air divine.

The limited number of campsites are on a first-come, first-served basis, typically open from mid-May through mid-October, so you may want to have alternative camping plans in case the campground is full when you arrive. The upper end of Spaulding Lake offers primitive shoreline camping.

No matter what your pleasure, Spaulding Lake offers something for everyone. Whether you choose to fish the lake or take a hike, you won't be disappointed. Spaulding Lake is the ideal place for the perfect paddling adventure.
