kayaking Lake Gregory

You are now allowed to launch private kayaks, canoes and SUP boards at Lake Gregory, but you don’t need to own a boat to get out on the water. Lake Gregory has rental kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddle boards, along with wind surfers, sail boats, rowboats, electric motor boats, belly boards, aqua cycles and pedal boats.

At 86 surface acres, Lake Gregory is rather small compared to other lakes in the area. After a short but pleasant paddle around the lake’s perimeter, there are plenty of outdoor pursuits to enjoy for the remainder of the day. Recreational activities are abundant here for those who gravitate towards a mountain getaway.

Lake Gregory offers swimming, boating and fishing. In addition to water activities on the lake, Lake Gregory offers a 300-foot water slide on the western side. This huge, inflated structure floats on 13,755 square feet of the lake’s Swim Cove, and has sandy beaches, restrooms, grills, picnic tables, picnic shelters, and volleyball courts along the shore.

Lake Gregory Regional Park also offers a fitness trail which encircles the lake, and can be used by hikers, joggers and walkers. The trail meanders through the pines, beaches, and the lake’s mountain town of Crestline. Activities ranging from horseback riding, hunting and wildlife viewing, to mountain biking, camping and hiking, are available nearby.
